Bamboo walks & boat rides

Explore the enchanting scenery between Inle Lake and Samkar Lake by boat and on foot passing fishermen, floating gardens, and some of the traditional Intha villages built on stilts on the lake. Walking through a bamboo forest, with sometimes a glimpse of the canal connecting Inle Lake to the Samkar Lake and visit the famous Taung To pagodas and have picnic at a beautiful spot.

Hop on – Hop off Biking and Boating around Inle Lake

Visiting Inle Lake is not just about being on the water but also about discovering the Shan and Intha villages on the banks of the river. We bring our bikes along on our private boat and stop every now and then for an hour of biking on the banks of Inle Lake passing traditional villages.

Pa O for a day trekking

Our all-time favorite trek to Pa O hill tribes from Shan State to get to know their life, visit their villages in the hills, eat their food and have the chance to dress like a Pa O (fun, at least for the picture!). 

The ruins of Indein & home cooked food with a local family & canoe trip floating gardens

Travel by boat towards the ruins of Indein are partly covered by vegetation and looks like a “pagoda forest”. A home-made cooked lunch is served in a local house and we continue towards the Nam Pan village for a very interesting trip going local with a small canoe. 

Discover Inle Lake’s west bank on bike and foot

An active day by bike and foot on the west bank of the lake with fantastic views over the lake and the villages surrounding the lake covering parts of the area not frequently visited by tourists. 

A Shan afternoon ending with a wine tasting

We start with a visit of the museum housed in the former palace of the last Shan prince of Nyaung Shwe. We have a Shan lunch at the local restaurant, continue to visit the local market, the ancient teak wooden Shwe Yan Pyay monastery with the oval windows and end the tour with a visit and some wine tasting of local produced wines.

Aung Ban to Indein by bike

Probably the best way to arrive in Inle Lake! Mountain bikes are ready for you to start a 4-5 hour biking trip to Indein. The trip is partly off-road and technically easy with most of the roads flat or downhill. Biking through numerous Pa O villages in an area where few foreigners have been before is a great experience. Stop on the way to enjoy the fantastic views over the lake and the Shan country side. Lunch is included in a local village.

An active and adventurous kayaking trip through rural villages of Shan state with a landscape of villages, beautiful nature with the Shan mountains in the background and floating gardens is passing by. 

Authentic Shan cooking class in a house on the lake

Meet Tin Tin – an Intha native from the lake who will share her traditional Shan recipes with you during a traditional Shan cooking class in a family house built on stilt on the lake. Enjoy a simple, tasteful, home-cooked food from a local lady who has been cooking her whole life for her family! 

Inle Bike, Boat & Kayak Tour – full day joining biking tour operated by Grasshopper adventure

A full day of exploration by bike, boat and kayak, with a fantastic traditional lunch in an exclusive Shan house on the lake. A somewhat challenging day, but filled with the rewards of outstanding scenery & genuine connections.

Ballooning over Inle Lake

Early morning boat ride will bring you to the starting point of a fantastic balloon ride over Inle Lake. Seeing the villages and the floating gardens from a hot air balloon gives you a completely different perspective of the beauty of this area. The balloons are usually flying from mid-November till mid-February.

Floating lunch on rice carrier boat in the middle of Inle Lake

Lunch is served on a rice carrier boat in the middle of Inle Lake. The boat has been transformed into an ephemeral restaurant fully equipped. An exclusive experience to taste delicious Shan food in a very special setting.
