A visit to this central part of Thailand is essential to understand the essence of Thai culture.

Sukhothai home-cooked food – a window to the culture of an ancient city 

We pick-you up from the hotel for a first impression and history of this ancient kingdom and a taste of the area. We visit the ruins of the elephant temple, visit a local market to taste some appetizers from the area and learn more about farming in the area. Continue to visit a local home where the famous Sukhothai noodles are served and we have an opportunity to see how the family lives. The evening ends with a tasting of different kinds of Thai desserts served at a special location.

Sukhothai history and daily life merging together – private guided biking tour

From your hotel we start the biking trip to show you the country side of Sukhothai area with the many temple ruins dotted area the area. The English-speaking guide stops very regularly to give you an excellent explanation on Buddhism, history, architecture, ways of life and local handicrafts. Water, snacks and a local lunch are served along the way. This private tour shows you the ways of live in the middle of Thailand with customs going back many centuries.

The temple ruins from Sukhothai historical park are an excellent place to talk in-depth with your private guide about the history of Thailand and the influence of Buddhism in the society. With a private guide you visit the surrounding country side as well as some of the temple ruins inside the park, partly by private car and partly by tuk-tuk. This evening sunset tour is a lovely introduction to the beautiful paddy fields of the Sukhothai area that starts from your hotel in Old Sukhothai. We are biking on farming roads along canals passing local villages. The experienced guide will give you plenty of information on farming life and the ride ends with at the right spot for a beautiful sunset.

Sri Satchanalai historical park – private tour including local breakfast and picnic lunch

We take you off the beaten track to the over 900 years old “sister city” of old Sukhothai. The Sri Satchanalai Historical park is a UNESCO site gives a “wilder” impression and is more shaded. We skip breakfast at the hotel and take you for a traditional Thai breakfast at a local market and enter the park when there are few any other visitors. Cars are not allowed in the park so we bring our own bikes to discover some of the ruins inside the park and find ourselves an excellent picnic spot on our way out. 

Farmer for a day 

The cradle of Thai civilization goes hand in hand with agriculture and the rice cultivation in this central part of Thailand. We take you out today for a hands-on experience into Thai farmers life and according to the season you will help preparing the soil, planting, weeding, harvesting or storing of rice or other typical agricultural products of this region. A typical farmers lunch is included.
